Transforming Leader Paradigms (Productivity Press, online June 19, 2019; hardcover June 26, 2019) challenges leaders to think differently about their role in leading culture change. The book will help leaders guide their organizations to extraordinary new levels of performance by focusing on three key areas: building a framework for problem-solving, encouraging respectful communication; and accelerating the pace at which the organization learns. By integrating the technical and the social aspects of work with a culture shift around problem-solving and learning, authors Jim Luckman and Olga Flory create a new mindset for leaders that has great potential for anyone who wants to lead more effectively.

The book starts by introducing the reader to the foundational thinking behind the two different paradigms: solutions thinking and problem-solving for complexity. The second half of the book provides actionable ideas and suggestions for beginning to embed this learning. There is no checklist or heroic leader to emulate, rather any leader at any level of the organization can begin to lead their teams toward problem-solving for complexity.

Jim Luckman has over 30 years of industry experience and 17 years as a leadership coach. He has lead three separate Lean transformations in leadership roles and has worked with hundreds of companies in a wide variety of industries, helping to instill the problem-solving mindset in leaders.

Olga Flory has held executive and senior leadership positions in a variety of companies and industries; allowing her to study the effects of leadership behaviors on people and organizations. Through her observations she has created learning interventions, helping leaders to develop mindsets and behaviors that support their ability to build high-performing and continuously improving organizations. Both authors have their roots in Lean thinking, with a behavioral bent toward helping leaders improve.
